I don’t know if it’s just me, but this year is flying by – and May was no exception.
It was another busy month for me.
Predominantly working with a single agency on their projects (much less of a headache than working with 2).
And I’ve also been doing some smaller bits of work for a couple of clients of mine from last year.
I also had a referral for a project come my way – which looks totally up my street, but the sticking point is the deadline.
They’re looking for a go-live at the end of July, and I only have a couple of weeks available between then and now.
So we’ll see if there’s any flex there.
Outside of client work, I feel like my to-do list is the biggest it’s ever been.
Having just moved house, marketing myself, health and other side projects I want to pursue…
It’s hard to find time for it all.

Scheduling important tasks
Because I have so many things I want to do, but limited free time.
I knew I had to do two things:
- Focus on the most important tasks
- Schedule it into my calendar
The truth is, I know I don’t have time to do everything I want. Which means having to prioritise.
And to make sure I do those things, it’s meant having to schedule it in.
And it’s honestly made a huge difference.
I’ve created a schedule around walking and cycling. And also time for “side projects” (which include anything marketing-related).
I then have time over weekends for family activities and house updates.

Reviving Instagram

I’ve been wanting to start a YouTube channel – but leading from the previous point, it’s too much of a blocker.
I don’t have the time to dedicate to it yet.
So I took a step back.
What could fulfil that creative itch whilst also promoting my work, and it’s something I could totally get into.
The simple answer – my Instagram account.
I plan to have a mix of work and other lifestyle-related stuff woven in.
It means I can play around with photography, shoot some videos, create animations etc.
I’ve already planned out 15 posts – they just need padding out.

May goals
- Land a project for July/August
- Paint kids bedrooms
- Post 12 Instagram posts

New project launch
The second project I worked on with the team at How&How. This was a typical marketing site – with an emphasis on interactions. I had a total of 14 days to build out the UI, integrate with Prismic and get it ready for content load.

Product of the month

Office paint
With my new office, I’m planning to go bold. The star of the show is going to be this paint from Little Greene – Genache. With such a bold change, I gave Chat GPT a whirl to see how it’d look in the new colour.
