December thoughts

12 years ago, whilst at university I had this idea that one day I’d work for myself.

For 8 years, I slowly worked towards that goal.

Waking up early to work on my projects.

Finishing work and coming home to work on my projects.

And even spending my weekends working on, you guessed it, my projects.

So when I finally took the plunge and quit my job to go freelance.

I no longer had a goal – a driving force of what to work towards.

Some have suggested the next logical step is to grow a team – form an agency or studio.

But I have no desire to do that.

I love working with people, but I don’t want to be responsible for someone else (I have kids for that).

So for the past 4 years, I’ve not had a goal.

Which nicely segways into the next section – my new goal.

New goal

I’m not going to lie, I plan to make money from it.

After all, I want to make money doing things I enjoy – whilst delivering value to others.

This newsletter is part of that, and so are my blog posts and my intended null YouTube channel.

My ultimate goal is to inspire others with my content.

A lot of us are far more capable than we give ourselves credit.

But we often get in our way (heck I do too, more than I care to admit).

I’m going to document my journey – the type of content I most enjoy from other creators.

I’ve already written 3 blog posts this month:

So expect more content in 2025 – hopefully, some of it will help you too.

To you reading this, don’t hesitate to email me , and let me know if you’ve found any of my content helpful or not – I love hearing from you all.

Airbnb

In the spirit of documenting my thoughts.

As I mentioned in last month’s newsletter, I’ll be moving house next year.

Something my wife and I discussed is renting it out on Airbnb when we go on weekends away.

We considered doing the same with our current house.

But we were worried it’d attract the wrong people who wouldn’t respect our belongings.

That said.

We could potentially earn £4-5k a year by renting out our new house once a month.

But we’ll have to do some work inside before we consider putting it on.

Product of the month

Bellroy

Laptop sleeve

My wife bought me this laptop case for my new Macbook. I’m a huge fan of Bellroy’s products I’ve had one of their wallets for 12+ years and a backpack for 3 years. Their products are of great quality and last.

Book of the month

Brian P Morgan

12 week year

This book was the bedrock for the coaching programme I went through earlier this year. I loved the concept so much that I’m adopting it to reach my goals in 2025 too. In short; schedule your goals for each quarter instead of yearly.
